Hasselblad 903SWC Super Wide Camera w/Zeiss 38mm f/4.5 Biogon GOOD+
The Hasselblad 903SWC is a medium-format camera with a permanently attached Zeiss 38mm f/4 Biogon lens.
It is a square-format camera producing a dozen 2-1/4 x 2-1/4" negatives per roll. It is compact for a 120 camera at only 2lbs. 15oz.
The 38mm Biogon lens is quite wide; it is equal to a 21mm lens on a 35mm camera. Focus is by scale (guess distance!). As you view the image through an exterior viewfinder you are lot seeing through the lens.
Estimate the distance and rotate the focus ring to it. This sounds like it would be hard to achieve perfect focus, but remember this is a really wide lens with tons of inherent depth of field. For instance, if you set the focus scale to 6', everything from 3-1/2' to 20' is in focus a f/11.
The Biogon is extremely rectilinear with virtually no distortion, even on the edges. As the owner of a camera store for over 35 years I have shot just about every lens you can think of. The 38 Biogon is simply the sharpest lens I have ever shot. It is a Zeiss T* lens meaning it has th heavy multi-coatings for great color and contrast.
The 903SWC also features interchangeable film backs. Keep B+W in one and color in another!
