Nikon SP Rangfinder Camera w/Nikkor 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/2 GOOD+

This one is a beauty! Focus is silky smooth. Speeds sound accurate; the finder is bright and in alignment.

This outfit comes with a Nikkor-S 50mm f/1.4 standard lens, and a Nikkor P.C 85mm f/2 with case, shade and 85mm finder.

The 85mm is an awesome portrait lens with a smooth bokeh.

Also included is a leather eveready case.

Amazing classic and a very useable camera!

About the Nikon SP:

The Nikon SP was introduced in 1957. It was Nikon’s last and best rangefinder camera, and was produced until the single-lens reflex Nikon F was introduced in 1959.

It featured a 1X magnification viewfinder. This was significant because it allows you to shoot with both eyes open.

Primary finder frame lines show 50mm, 5mm, 105mm and 135mm focal lengths. A small secondary finder just to the left of the main one shows 28mm and 35mm. This was quit a feat in it’s day.

Focus is achieved by turning a small wheel on the top of the camera with your index finger. You can also focus on the lens barrel.

The camera accepts Nikon “S” bayonet mount lenses.

The silk focal-plane shutter is very quiet and smooth to operate. Speeds are T, B, 1sec, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125th, 1/250th, 1/500th, 1/1000th.

The SP is inevitably compared to its closest competitor the Leica M3. Both have similar capabilities except the Nikon has more frame lines (the M3 shows only 50mm, 90mm and 135mm). The SP will also accept a motor drive.
