As per Joe Geier (Vintage Leica experts in Vienna): “The camera is fully authentic although it has been upgraded to Leica IIIf specifications after 1950. The camera has been delivered to Luftwaffe Berlin on November 04th 1941 as IIIC/LOOGI with delivery number 29139.”
As per Leica - Wetzlar: "Leica IIIc chrome ANr. 381599 was manufactured in 1941. The camera was shipped to Berlin on 4th November, 1941. The camera was serviced on 21st August, 1943. Leica Elmar 50/3,5 SNr. 597386 was manufactured in 1945. The lens was shipped to A.E.S., Army Exchange Service on 28th November, 1945 We have no entry of any servicing.”
The camera is in very nice condition. The vulcanite is intact. The rangefinder is quite useable and is in alignment.
Shutter speeds sound accurate.
The lens focuses smoothly. Glass looks good with a bit of haze.
It comes with a leather everyday case.
