The Nikon Nikonos V is a great camera both above and below water.
It is incredibly rugged and can dive to a depth of up t 160 feet.
Focus is done by scale, meaning you guesstimate the distance to your subject and apply it via the focus knob on the side of the lens. As the 35mm lens is wide it's not that difficult to get the focus right. Also there is a great depth-of-field scale on the lens that changes with the aperture setting making it a breeze.
Inside the finder you'll find bright LED shutter speed numbers. It is a matched-number meter. You set the desired shutter speed and it illuminates in the finder. As you change the aperture a secondary recommended speed appears . Turn the aperture knob until the desired speed matches the recommended speed and you are good to go!
It also has an Aperture Priority mode. Set the shutter speed to "A" for auto. You then choose the desired aperture on the lens. The camera will automatically pick a correct shutteer speed to match. It shows you the speed via the LED's in the finder.
Available accessories include a 15mm, 20mm and 28mm underwater-only lens, and an 85mm which like the 35 and be used above and below water.
Underwater flash units are also available.
