This is a rare bit of photojournalistic history; a boxed, unused Nikon F2 Photomic A that is engraved WHNPA-76.
WHNPA stands for White House News Photographers Association. In 1975 President Gerald ford was in office. Ken Heinan of the Washington Star was named Photographer of the Year and awarded a Hamilton watch and a Nikon F2 Photomic camera. We do not know for sure but it seems likely this was either the camera awarded to Mr. Heinan or perhaps another 1976 winner.
The camera is in immaculate condition. It comes with the original box, though the box shows external wear and is taped in one corner.
